It's a scene no one wants to wake up to or come home to. Flames shooting out the windows, smoke billowing down the street. But it's a scene firefighters deal with on a regular basis. "It's unfortunate that we do have fires, but we have to be able to put them out quickly and with as least damage as we can to citizens property," said Mike Corbo, Director of Fire Training for Atlantic County.

Fire Company's across the country put out hundreds of thousands of fires each year. The Atlantic County Firefighters Association wanted residents to see the training, technique and expensive equipment that goes into saving lives. "Unfortunately the jaws of life on a constant basis, we're constantly going to motor vehicle accidents and having to remove people," explained Corbo.

And people are watching and learning. "We come out every year to see it and it means something different this year having a son as a volunteer firefighter, he has to be called to situations like this and one of his first calls was an extrication," said Robert Biernbaum of Egg Harbor Township.

Nearby, the Egg Harbor Township High Angle Rescue Team steadily scaled a six story building to show what goes into saving a trapped persons life.

And as flames danced close to the wood line, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service sprung into action.

But as the smoke clears from the scene, residents understand that while the firefighters may have been taking part in a training demonstration, it was all very real. "The danger every time that siren goes off that their lives are on the line to keep us safe as residents no matter where you live and that's a huge thing and we should be proud of anyone who is doing this," said Biernbaum.
