GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP - A 22-year-old woman remained hospitalized Thursday night, recovering from injuries sustained when she crashed her car after falling asleep at the wheel while driving through Galloway Township.

Catherine Lopez drifted off the roadway and struck several trees before her car came to a stop near Aloe Street and Robin Lane in Galloway at about 10:24 p.m. Wednesday, according to a statement Thursday from police.

Firefighters from Pomona and Germania fire companies pulled Lopez from her car. Paramedics drove her to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus.

Lopez got a ticket for careless driving.

She was in stable condition Thursday, according to hospital personnel.
