EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - The Bargaintown Fire Department is still investigating what started a fire that displaced an Egg Harbor Township family and killed two pets Monday night.

Chief Tom Nace said the fire was discovered in basement of a home on 320 Discovery Drive at about 10:30 p.m. The heat from the fire broke a water pipe, which flooded the basement and created a lot of smoke in the house. No people were were hurt, but a dog and a cat were lost in the fire, Nace said. All the utilities in the house were shut off and the family went to stay with relatives, Nace said.
