2014 Elwood Vol Fire Company Golf Tournament

13th Annual William Kennedy Memorial Golf Tournament to
Benefit the EVFC and Logan DeAngelis

Mays Landing Country Club
Saturday October 11th, 2014 @ 8 AM Rain or Shine

Logan DeAngelis 2  Logan DeAngelis 1  Logan DeAngelis 4

Logan DeAngelis is 16 years old and was diagnosed with stage 4, glioblastoma, in August of 2013. Glioblastoma is the deadliest
brain tumor there is and has no cure! Logan had a 6cm tumor in his brain which spread to his spinal canal. He had surgery which
removed 1cm of the tumor and had a shunt placed in his brain, to release the pressure and fluid that the tumor was causing. The
shunt, which Logan will have for the rest of his life, drains the fluid from his brain into his stomach.

He has recovered from his surgery very well and began radiation on September 17th. He has had 42, consecutive, treatments to
his brain and spine and also took a chemo pill every day during the radiation treatments. Logan began chemo in November and
receives 2 drugs, intravenously, every two weeks and takes a chemo pill for 5 straight days. The protocol for his cancer is a year
of chemo as long as it is keeping the tumor stable. (Not growing) Statistically, Logan has a 10% chance of being alive from when
he was diagnosed. The 5 year survival rate is at 1%.

Logan has had two MRIs; one in December and another in March. They both showed his tumor to be stable. This type of tumor
is described as an octopus; it branches out and that’s why it’s almost impossible to remove all of it. It is known to spread fast and
come back 99.9% of the time.

We have looked into clinical trials but Logan does not qualify because he is under the age of 18 and it has spread. Logan is doing
wonderful and has no disabilities from the tumor. The doctors say he should have weakness, memory loss and seizures but he is
not experiencing any of them.

We have faith in Logan’s oncologist but we know, medically, he can only do so much. We have contacted a natural doctor who
has a protocol for glioblastoma patients. The problem is that none of the treatments are covered by our insurance. He told us of
at least 5 natural treatments we can try and have been proven to kill glioblastoma cells. Out of the 5, we are going to try 3 of
them. Logan will continue to receive chemo when using the natural solutions and have already started one natural solution. We
need to get his body used to this before we introduce the second and third items which consist of oil and vitamins. The one item
will require travel out of state because it is not available in NJ.

We will have many out of pocket expenses such as the cost of the natural treatments and traveling expenses. Logan’s case is
rare as glioblastoma usually occurs in people over the age of 50. It’s also rare for it to spread. We are willing to do everything we
possibly can for our son as any parent would do for their own children. Please help us fight this monster and give Logan a
fighting Chance!

Thank You,
The DeAngelis Family
