NJ Transit accident

From the AC Press On-line

HAMMONTON — One person is dead and another is seriously injured after a car was struck by a train Friday afternoon, according to NJ Transit.

At 4:20 p.m., a train traveling toward Atlantic City struck a vehicle that was on the tracks at the Line Street grade crossing.

None of the 120 riders and crew members on board the train at the time of the incident was injured, according to NJ Transit.

However, one person in the car was killed while another was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

Hammonton police deferred comment to NJ Transit, whose police department is the leading agency investigating the accident.
